Lieutenant Murphy has been a K-9 handler since 1999. He handles K-9 Jaxx, a 6 year old Hollandse Herder (Dutch Shepherd). Jaxx came to the Unit via the Czech Republic. He is a certified Patrol dog trained in Building Searching, Area Searching, Article Searching, Crowd Control, Search and Rescue, Obedience and Apprehension. He replaced K-9 Condor Van Hildernisse, a German shepherd upon his retirement in 2007. Lt. Murphy is currently training K-9 candidate Puppy Aine who also is from the litter of Dutch Shepherds bred here at the Sheriff’s Office.
