Corrections Officer/Deputy Sheriff
This is a position in our Barnstable County Correctional Facility.
These officers are responsible for supervising inmates in the Barnstable County Correctional Facility (BCCF), ensuring that order, discipline, safety and security are maintained. Employees must successfully complete a training course mandated by the MA Sheriff’s Correctional Academy. The Correctional Academy course is 8 weeks including field training. About Training


 
 

Criminal Identification Officers (CIO)/Deputy Sheriff
This is a position in our Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI). Criminal Identification Officers (CIO) are appointed Deputy Sheriff’s and are MA Certified Law Enforcement Officers. They are trained experts in the field of Forensic Investigation. This includes but is not limited to gathering, analyzing and identification of physical evidence. CIO’s supervise and assist in collecting evidence at accident and crime scenes and testify in court as to the significance of the evidence.

Telecommunicator/911 Operator
This is a position in our Communications Division. Telecommunicators are responsible for maintaining a listening watch on all public safety radio frequencies being used by municipal, county, state and federal agencies operating in and throughout Barnstable County. Applicants must possess a 40 hour Telecommunicator Certificate or equivalent.

Radio Technician
This is a position in our Technical Division. Radio Technicians install, maintain and repair state-of-the-art communication equipment, electronic security and related public safety and law enforcement equipment throughout Barnstable County. Applicants must possess a Federal Communication Commission (FCC) License or equivalent.

Deputy Sheriff Civil Process
The Civil Process Bureau is a separate entity from the Sheriff’s Office.
