Dress Code for Visits

All visitors to the Barnstable County Correctional Facility (BCCF) are required to be properly dressed. All visitors must wear appropriate undergarments and footwear during their entire visit. All clothing must remain on your person during the visit; no articles of clothing may be removed at any time under any circumstance.

The following items are considered unacceptable attire for a visit with a Barnstable County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) inmate:

  1. Sweatpants or sweatshirts with hoods
  2. Fatigue or camouflage clothing unless the visitor is on active military duty
  3. Clothing similar to that issued to an inmate or a BCSO uniformed personnel
  4. Gym and/or exercise-type shorts
  5. Exercise/dance tights, leotards, leggings, or body suits worn alone as an outfit
  6. Midriff, tank, halter, muscle, or strappy tops
  7. Jackets, coats, or similar outer garments
  8. Sleeveless shirts or those that expose the back beyond the shoulder area
  9. Low-cut, revealing clothing or form-fitting attire
  10. Sheer clothing without undergarments
  11. Bathing suits
  12. Dresses, shorts, or skirts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee
  13. Dresses or skirts with slits must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee
  14. Hats, hair wraps, or other hair/head coverings
  15. No jewelry other than wedding rings and/or medical alert jewelry may be worn during an inmate visit.

BCCF visits officers may request you to remove or change inappropriate clothing prior to admittance to visit an inmate. A visit may be denied if clothing deemed inappropriate by a BCCF visits officer cannot be corrected prior to admittance.
