The Barnstable County Sheriff's Office supports family members of incarcerated individuals through our Family Outreach, Resource & Support Services (FORSS). This program helps relatives navigate the incarceration process and connects families with community services.
Family members are vital to incarcerated individuals’ successful transitions back into society. Yet, families are often left to navigate the incarceration system and the re-entry process on their own. FORSS provides a liaison to answer general questions about bail, sentence structure, programming, housing, visits, and more. The liaison is also available to answer inquiries as appropriate about the incarcerated individuals themselves.
Because families often face struggles of their own while their relatives are incarcerated, FORSS is also designed to connect family members with community-based services that may be able to provide temporary or ongoing support and assistance.
If your family, or someone you know, needs assistance or would like to learn more, please contact Major Rebecca Fernandes, the family support officer, at rfernandes@bsheriff.net or (508) 563-4300.
